“@FeignNUYou have indeed discovered the heart of the issue. So far as I can tell, this idea *is* in fact untestable, even in principle. If it is impossible to observe something so large as an electron without disturbing it, then I fail to see how we could observe the "universe within a photon" which this article seems to suggest. As for the universes to which ours is merely a photon, it does not seem to me that it will ever be possible for us, who cannot even see to the edge of our present universe, to see outside of it. Even if we could, of course, the very scale of what we saw would be so massive as to prevent us from drawing any conclusions about it. I believe that A. De Morgan reduced this whole question to absurdity centuries ago with the lyric Great fleas have little fleas upon their backs to bite 'emAnd little fleas have lesser fleas, and so ad infinitum.

I'm kind of confused about the significance of this article. Isn't this a pretty common idea, even with kids? I mean, hell, it was a central theme behind the movie Men In Black, and that wasn't exactly a thought-provoking film..
Jabba coughing up a moped at the end was a nice touch...!

so if there would be a zombie outbrake they will die coz of this *****?its like a zombie AIDS!?
God I hate this ***** song. The whole song is one huge cheesy ass metaphor , rife with ***** cliches, about how music is his best friend. Yeah, thanks 311. This was a concept that deserved its own song. Who writes a song about how much they like writing songs? Seriously. Every time I hear this on the radio I feel like someone's trying to shove a wet cat turd in my ear. Go jump off a bridge 311./rantoff |

Joe Posnanski was a writer for the Kansas City Star. He knows all about the Royals' woes.He is excellent, I just about cried when left for SI. Now all we've got is Jason Whitlock...

Occasionally psychiatrists/psychologists will tell patients diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder to recount a time in their life when they were truly happy and try to revisit them, if time, money, and other constraints allow. For some people it's a childhood memory of playing with their father, which is pretty much impossible to re-enact, but the therapist may have the client write a hypothetical letter to her father about the memory and why it makes her happy. For other people, a vacation to some place may be the happiest moment they've experienced in some time, so the therapist might recommend the client go back to that place, if she can afford it, if it will not put things in her life in jeopardy (such as a job), and if the therapist actually believes the trip would help her psychologically. Furthermore, people diagnosed with a depressive disorder aren't depressed every single minute of every single day. They will have moments where they are enjoying themselves; however, those moments occur less frequently than they would in "normal" person's life. I have no idea whether the woman from the article is "faking" like many here are suggesting, but the fact that she was pictured "having fun" doesn't necessarily mean that she is faking having depression.

Although I've heard it's a little dated there's a mini series Brian Greene did called The Elegant Universe. It goes into a lot more detail but in the same manner as the TED talk. Here's the link to the YouTube video:http://digg.com/u1GjbY

They don't understand that he might value a souvenir of his friend more than the scenery."On his trip to London there are no shots of Big Ben, Tower Bridge, or Buckingham Palace. Instead, Mr Samaddar's souvenir picture is of him standing inside a white office cubicle with a friend."seriously what is wrong with them |
