actually 5 trillion electron volts would power a 40 watt lightbulb for about 20 nanoseconds. Which, of couse, isn't even enough to heat up the filament. I can haz electrical engineer degree now!!

Why is it whenever a new OS is announced, the immediate focus switches to boot times?Who seriously chooses their OS based on boot times?As long as it doesn't take minutes to boot up it's not of earth-shattering importance.I'm not going to ditch Win 7 because the extra 20 -30 seconds have prevented me from saving the world.?
Are you kidding?!?Imagine a public kiosk where 4.2 seconds after you enter your login and p/w, everything of relevance is there for you.

I went with my psychology class to visit the lab where they're doing this a couple years back. they had only had it installed for a few months and were being rather careful with it but i got selected to go and sit in the scanner and do a task while my class watched my brain activity in the other room. its pretty cool. they have to cool the thing with a lot of liquid nitrogen to keep it working :)
