"As for the universes to which ours is merely a photon, it does not seem to me that it will ever be possible for us, who cannot even see to the edge of our present universe, to see outside of it. Even if we could, of course, the very scale of what we saw would be so massive as to prevent us from drawing any conclusions about it."Hey, I'll be the first to admit I have no idea how we'd do this either. But you still sound like someone 2500 years ago telling Demmocritus, "This is silly! We can't even see corpuscles much less these atoms you talk about. And even if we could they're so small, we could hardly draw any conclusions about them in the first place!" You're right that testing this kind of idea is *totally* outside the scope of our technological ability right now. So far outside its scope, in fact, that it's hard to imagine how it could ever be within it. But personally, I think that probably reflects more on our lack of imagination than it does on what's actually possible. I can see no reason, a priori, that we should not be able to somehow observe the grandest structures of reality.
An investigation confirmed that the cause of the accident was an electrical fault in a "soldering joint" linking two of the 1,200 "superconducting" magnets that steer sub-atomic particles around the LHC. -FTAWhat the hell is with the use of quotes? It reads like they're mocking the magnets for being weak.

Hockey stories make me happy. and then I remember I'm a Leaf fan..
"Death to the file"?No, death to the idiotic "I know what you want to do and am going to force you to do it" attitude pioneered by Apple. Every time I've had the misfortune of running across an application which felt it should hide the "confusing reality" of files from me, it's been a fcuking car wreck of annoyance. We're not all 80-year-old technophobes. Some of us are not even scared by directories.!

Correct: the Russian link failed--I gather that the administrator erased that file for some reason. The article is now updated with links to MegaUpload and FileDropper. But thank you, rwac, for the Pirate Bay torrent link. |

Dont say its "actually not a bad beer" and then justify that statement by saying it is better than the macro breweries... thats like saying mcdonalds is actually ok cause its better than eating a turd...Sam Adams is horrible. It tastes gross, not everyone wants a pound of hops in their beer... Its supposed to be a lager, not an IPA. I hate it and I hate their commercials
