Cracked always comes up with very perceptive analyses, but never something like this.We don't examine and think about our daily cultural on a deep enough level to become aware of these trends, tropes, and patterns. Authors don't realize that, for instance, when they write Harry Potter, they've created a cult of superior ueber-menschen with superhuman abilities. Children idealize these characters, and even adults: but they don't understand, themselves, why.The fact that these films are so popular and well-received and accepted tells us not about women's taste in films, but about our culture's way of raising young girls to be receptive to these malformed concepts of femininity. This article is more frightening than it is funny.
If there was no oversite then how did they catch them?

Come down on the street and dance with me..
In the digital age there is now a infinite supply of media and as soon as a infinite supply of anything exists the price in a free market will inevitably drop to zero. That's all that has happened, you can pass as much legislation as you want but the cost of copying and distribution has dropped to practically zero.Regardless of how you feel about pirates what they are doing is where the market will be heading and no amount of legislation will change that.!

wow, it's like a whole different country. oh wait...But I believe you will find the same in any mega-retailer that has stores all over the globe. Another one is Carrefour. Same name on the outside, completely different stuff on the inside depending on which country you're in.?
No - no words. No words to describe it. Poetry! They should've sent a poet. So stupid. So stupid... I had no idea. |

I actually had a conservative today tell me that government run healthcare would be disastrously expensive because buying insurance for 300 million people leads to far higher costs for each person in the insurance pool than the per-person cost of his buying insurance just for the 4 people in his family. He also told me I was an idiot to not realize how much costs go up for everyone as the pool of insured goes up. I think this shows one example of why they aren't the practitioners of fiscal responsibility they think they are - the understanding of money many of them has is even worse than the understanding my wife has. |
