Sounds like a policy that needs to be adopted. At about the same time that was being announced, Microsoft gave a super early announcement that they had just started working on IE9 and that they were "going" to ship a way faster version of IE9. Then they announced it was going to have HTML 5 and CSS 3 support. And, I think on the heals of that it was announced that the next version of IE or Windows (I forget which) would ship in 2011.So their habit of pre-announcing stuff far, far in advance of ship date has not taken hold. Apple still does a way better job of it. Apple just ships stuff that is faster, has support for more standards in it and is updated for technology shifts like 64-bit addressing. It is not a big deal because Apple is always making big improvements and not playing catch up on technology.

...It doesn't really look that great. I can't really put my finger on it, maybe the touch controls just didn't work for me, but like the author I never finished phantom hourglass either. I thought zelda was going to make this game multi-player or something like four swords but now that I see that's not going on it just seems exactly like the one before it, except with a train.

There is a difference. The music industry is arrogant and unwilling to change, and punishes its victims with unreasonable demands (a kidney for each song downloaded please). And don't forget the dirty tactics played by RIAA. Microsoft isn't taking people to court -- they made it very clear that modded consoles will be banned, and so they were -- there is nothing unreasonable about that. The modders ran the risk of getting banned when they pirated games and played them for free, and they lost this hand. Hell, a lot of them relatively profited from playing games for free for this long. Think about it, do people who pirate PC games (which have game serials) get to play official multiplayer? Nope. This is the equivalent. These people are just trying to profit from a large company... |
