Ignoring the fact that local gravitational effects can be and usually are stronger than distant gravitational effects does not "prove" the existence of dark matter. Seeing something beyond the "end of the world" of Big Bang theorists isn't proof of dark matter either. However, planet hunting is a desirable endeavor and if the observations obtained are useful in the search although misinterpreted, then I don't object. People usually learn best from their mistakes.?
